| The rise and fall of Axl Rose as told by Gilbert and Sullivan. Peppering his club set with frustration-venting songs about the music business, Andy Prieboy (Wall of Voodoo) took White Trash from clever-pants work-in-progress at the uber-hip club Largo into a full-on musical that played at the Aspen Comedy Festival, "Late Night" with Conan O'Brien, and a series of sold-out runs at the Roxy in L.A. (see the poster?). Blaine played, among other things: G n'R guitar-slinger Izzy Stradlin; a corporate attorney; a Thriller-style street dancer; a eurotrash hippie at Jim Morrison's grave; and a bellboy. The cast, at any given time, could include David Foley, Paul F. Tompkins, Greg Behrendt, Devo and Sparks drummer David Kendrick, and everybody who has ever been in the Buxotics. Andy occasionally works out kinks and new songs at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood whilst waiting for MCA Records to get its shit together long enough to put out a cast album |
